Kacee Mickelsen grew up in Boise, Idaho, where she was heavily involved in musical theatre and studied classical voice with Marta (Johns) Rigby from the age of nine until she graduated from Eagle High School in 2008. She served as choir president at EHS and placed first at the Idaho State Solo Festival her senior year of high school.

Ms. Mickelsen attended Utah State University and graduated in Vocal Performance in 2012.  During her time at Utah State, Mickelsen studied with Dr. Cindy Dewey and participated in many of USU’s Opera Theatre productions.  She played several leading roles at Utah State, including that of Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute).  She was also a featured soloist with the Utah State Symphony Orchestra and the American Festival Chorus, directed by Dr. Craig Jessop, and was awarded the Outstanding Singer of the Year Award every year she was at USU. Ms. Mickelsen married her best friend and fellow Utah State music graduate, Shane Mickelsen, in 2013. Mr. and Mrs. Mickelsen live in Riverton, Utah and run a music studio together where they teach voice, piano, composition, and music theory.

Ms. Mickelsen was a winner of the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in Utah in 2014 and will be acting as the music director for a new musical to be performed in the LDS Conference Center Theatre in Salt Lake City this spring.
