There are 8 ensembles

We have 4 traditional ensembles and 4 contemporary ensembles. Singers grade 3-7 will be placed by grade level (with the exception of 7th graders auditioning for Rhapsody); singers in grades 8-12 will be placed by audition.

Traditional Ensembles

chorale
Chorale, grades 3-5. Focus: Development of healthy singing technique with unison to three-part treble music. Directed by Mrs. McCauley and Mrs. Paskett, Tuesdays from 5:30-6:45 pm.

 

Concert Choir, grades 6-9. Focus: Development of healthy singing technique as the adolescent voice expands, singing unison to four-part music written for treble and mixed voices. Directed by Mrs. McCauley, Tuesdays from 5:30-6:45 pm.
Concert Choir, grades 6-7. Focus: Development of healthy singing technique as the adolescent voice expands, singing unison to four-part music written for treble and mixed voices. Directed by Mrs. Cook, Tuesdays from 7:00-8:15 pm.

 

Virtuoso Singers, grades 8-9. Focus: Development of healthy singing technique through advanced mixed choral music, ranging from two- to eight-part music. Co-directed by Mrs. McCauley and Mrs. Paskett, Tuesdays from 8:00-9:15 pm.

Presto, grades 7-9. Focus: Development of healthy singing technique through advanced treble contemporary choral music with accompaniment, ranging from two- to six-part music. Singers in Presto also participate in a primary ensemble like Virtuoso Singers. Directed by Ms. Pedersen, Tuesdays from 7:00-8:00 pm. Extra charge: There is a $35 additional participation fee to sing in this ensemble.
Rhapsody, grades 7-9. Focus: Development of healthy singing technique through advanced treble contemporary choral music with accompaniment, ranging from two- to six-part music. Singers in Presto also participate in a primary ensemble like Virtuoso Singers. Co-directed by Mrs. Carroll and Mrs. Cook, Tuesdays from 5:45-6:45 pm. Extra charge: There is a $35 additional participation fee to sing in this ensemble.

Singers in Bella Visi also participate in a primary ensemble like Concordia. Directed by Ms. Pedersen, Tuesdays from 6:00-7:00 pm. Extra charge: There is a $35 additional participation fee to sing in this ensemble. There is also a variable outfit rental fee ($15 to $30).

Singers in Fortis also participate in a primary ensemble like Concordia. VoiceOver, grades 10-12. VoiceOver is Cantus Youth Choirs’ premiere contemporary a cappella ensemble. With 10 women and 9 men, VoiceOver pushes the boundaries of typical a cappella ensembles, giving you powerful bass, full mid-tones and punchy treble. VoiceOver combines vocals, vocal percussion and movement to deliver inspiring and high-impact performances. Focus: Development of advanced ear training, harmonic, rhythmic, contemporary vocal technique, and performing skills through advanced, popular a cappella music. This music is typically sung with beatboxing and choreography. Singers in VoiceOver participate in Concordia as their primary ensemble. Co-directed by Mr. McCauley and Ms. Pedersen. Extra charge: There is a $35 additional participation fee. There is also a variable outfit rental fee ($15 to $30).
