There are 8 ensembles

We have 4 traditional ensembles and 4 contemporary ensembles. All singers will be placed in their traditional ensemble based on their grade: Chorale, Concert Choir, Virtuoso Singers, and Concordia. Singers will need to audition to be placed in our contemporary ensembles: Rhapsody, Fortis, Bella Visi, and VoiceOver.

Season Finale 2018: Chorale performs “Swinging on a Star” arranged by Greg Gilpin

1. Chorale

  • Mixed ensemble, grades 3-5
  • Focus on the development of healthy singing technique with unison to three-part treble music.
  • Directed by Melody Paskett
  • Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:45 pm

Season Finale 2018: Concert Choir performs, “With or Without You” arranged by Keith McCauley

2. Concert Choir

  • Mixed ensemble, grades 6-7
  • Directed by Brandi Cook
  • Focus on the development of healthy singing technique as the adolescent voice expands, singing unison to four-part music written for treble and mixed voices.
  • Tuesdays from 7:00 to 8:15pm

Season Finale 2018: Virtuoso Singers performs, “This is Me” arranged by Mac Huff

3. Virtuoso Singers

  • Mixed ensemble, grades 8-9
  • Co-directed by Krista Carroll and Melody Paskett
  • Focus on the development of healthy singing technique through advanced mixed choral music, ranging from two to eight-part music.
  • Tuesdays from 7:00 to 8:15pm

4. Concordia

  • Mixed ensemble, grades 10-12
  • Co-directed by Erika McCauley and Keith McCauley
  • Focus on the development of healthy singing technique through advanced mixed choral music, ranging from two- to sixteen-part music.
  • Tuesdays from 7:00 to 8:15pm

Season Finale 2018: Rhapsody performs “I Want You Back/ABC” arranged by Mark Brymer

1. Rhapsody

  • Mixed ensemble, grades 7-9
  • Co-directed by Krista Carroll and Brandi Cook
  • Choreography: Light
  • Auditioned ensemble: Singers in Rhapsody also participate in Virtuoso Singers or Concert Choir. Auditions for this ensemble are held in April and May for the following season. There is a $35 additional fee to participate in this ensemble.
  • Focus on development of healthy singing technique through advanced treble contemporary choral music with accompaniment, ranging from two- to six-part music.
  • Tuesdays from 5:45 to 6:45 pm

Season Finale 2018: Fortis performs, “The Flame” arranged by Keith McCauley

2. Fortis

  • All male, individually miked ensemble, grades 10-12
  • Directed by Keith McCauley
  • Choreography: Medium
  • Auditioned ensemble: Singers in Fortis also participate in Concordia. Auditions for this ensemble are held in April and May for the following season. There is a $35 additional fee to participate in this ensemble, and an additional outfit rental fee of $25.
  • Development of healthy singing technique through advanced all-male contemporary music with or without accompaniment.
  • Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:00m

  • Choreography: Medium
  • Auditioned ensemble: Singers in Bella Visi also participate in Concordia. Auditions for this ensemble are held in April and May for the following season. There is a $35 additional fee to participate in this ensemble, and an additional outfit rental fee of $25.

Season Finale 2018: VoiceOver performs, “Rise Up” arranged by Shams Ahmed

4. VoiceOver

VoiceOver is Cantus Youth Choirs’ premiere contemporary a cappella ensemble. With 9 women and 9 men, VoiceOver pushes the boundaries of typical a cappella ensembles, giving you powerful bass, full mid-tones and punchy treble. VoiceOver combines vocals, vocal percussion and movement to deliver inspiring and high-impact performances.

  • Contemporary a cappella, individually-miked, mixed ensemble with vocal percussion, grades 10-12
  • Co-directed by Keith McCauley and Annie Roberts
  • Choreography: Advanced
  • Auditioned ensemble: Singers in VoiceOver also participate in Concordia. Auditions for this ensemble are held in April and May for the following season. There is a $35 additional fee to participate in this ensemble, and an additional outfit rental fee of $25.
  • Focus on development of advanced ear training, harmonic, rhythmic, contemporary vocal technique, and performing skills through advanced, popular a cappella music. This music is typically sung with beatboxing and choreography.
  • Tuesdays from 8:15 to 9:30pm, with additional sectional rehearsals on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 7:00pm in October through November and February through March.
